Sydney doesn’t have enough dessert places. Park Bench is a dessert pop up that you must catch before it folds up!
What is Park Bench?
Park Bench is run by the owners of Two Black Sheep downstairs, who were asked to come up with something to fill an empty tenancy for 6 months. The result is an ice cream, gelato and coffee joint smack bang in the middle of busy George Street.
If you do go, one of the features is its unique design and decor – look at the milk crates, flower pots and plants along the wall. Also, a picket fence shelters you from the buses and people outside. I recommend that you take a seat on the park bench inside when you go, and don’t forget to look up.
My pedestrian thoughts
I have only ever had the ice cream and gelato and every time I’ve gone for the tasting platter for two ($13). It’s value for money and if you’re with a friend (or two – the scoops aren’t small) it’s a great sharing plate to try out the different flavours.
My recommended flavours: apple pie and hazelnut. Definitely give the rest a shot. There’s a wide selection.
During the day, Park Bench is a trendy cafe serving some wholesome sandwiches and toasties.
Park Bench is located at 580 George Street, Town Hall. It’s right above Town Hall station. Park Bench isn’t opened on Sundays.
